Endocrinology focuses on the study, diagnosis, and treatment of problems related to the endocrine glands (endocrine system) and hormones. Endocrinologists study and treat conditions such as diabetes, thyroid disorders (such as hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism), adrenal gland disorders, growth disorders, osteoporosis, obesity, and hormonal problems that affect fertility and metabolism. The endocrine system includes glands such as the thyroid, pituitary, pancreas, adrenal glands, and gonads, which produce hormones that regulate many functions in the body.
